The Baseball Proposal: Getting the Diamond on the Diamond
Some people are together for years before they get married and others fall fast! Amber and Cody had a whirlwind romance and an even more romantic engagement! Read their story down below:
“Cody and I met through mutual friends in September 2015. My good friend Amber had recently hired me to do her engagement and wedding makeup, and had mentioned this “good ole country boy” that her husband used to play baseball with. Being curious I decided to look him up on social media and find out who he was. After a couple of weeks of playing cat and mouse, going back and forth liking each other’s pictures we decided to go out on an actual date.
Both of us anxiously waiting for our date, talked and texted constantly. When Wednesday finally rolled around I had butterflies in my stomach all day. When he came to pick me up, he had the biggest, most perfect smile I had ever seen, and his cheeks just stayed a bright red. Trying to get the awkwardness out of the way I offered a casual hug. We were both so nervous that it just made it really tense so we ended up laughing like idiots. He was tall and muscular with a contagious laugh. I couldn’t help but to stare at his eyes, they are the most perfect combination of brown and green.
I quickly learned so much about him. You see Cody and I are so similar but yet so different in so many ways. When I get nervous I am really quiet and he just goes on and on. The night of our date, he was so nervous I could hardly get a word in. He told me stories about his family, about his baseball career and about his passion for hunting and the outdoors. I couldn’t exactly tell what it was about him but like Amber had said, he was different.
He was a true and complete gentleman, opening all of the doors (including my car door), pulled out my chair for me, and refused to let me even touch our bill. After we were done eating he offered to take me home but I was having such a good time we decided to drive around for hours just talking and listening to music. He dropped me off back at my house where we shared the most perfect first kiss. There was fireworks and a connection for sure! By the time he had made it home we had already made plans for the next day.
We became inseparable within weeks, spending all of our time together. I quickly became friends with his inner circle and acquainted with his family. We both fell quickly, madly and deeply in love. Something about him brings me a feeling of calmness, not like a boring, lackluster calm but a calm that makes you feel like you’re exactly where you’re supposed to be. I had never felt this way until we crossed paths. I had a rough beginning to my life and faced a lot of struggles dealing with illness and family challenges. Cody made me feel like I had been given a fresh start and has filled in the empty spaces. He quite literally is my best friend.
Around the end of April 2016 he started acting a little funny and being kinda secretive, which was not like him at all so I started to worry. He hid his phone from me and was always off “studying.” I figured he just had a lot going on with his end of his college baseball career and his graduation coming up. A few short weeks later I found out what was really happening all along. Cody had planned to propose to me at the beginning of his final baseball game. He had everyone in on it and the entire team even chanted after I said “yes!” With lots of emotion and love in the air, it’ll easily go down as one of the best days of my life.
We are set to be married June 10th, 2017. Keeping no secrets from each other, we both emphasize the importance of communication. We share common interests, hobbies and beliefs. We strongly encourage each other’s dreams and ambitions and strive to make each other, and the people around us better. God knew exactly what he was doing when he brought Cody into my life and I’m thankful that I get to spend the rest of it with him. I am so full of joy to become his wife and spend the rest of my life making memories and a story that will last long beyond our time together.”
The Softball Proposal: A Proposal That Hits it Out of the Park
Sports always seem to bring people together! Below read the story of Daniel and Juliet who met on the softball field:
“I met Daniel at a park nearly 7 years ago while we were playing on different teams for a coed softball league. We had our first kiss on one of the bench swings in that park, the song playing on my phone at the time was Hallelujah sung by kd lang. We dated for 6 years before getting engaged. In July of 2016 we were having his niece and his daughters birthday party at the same park where we first met. I am a nurse and had worked a 12 hour night shift the night before. I got off work, bought a cake, came home took a shower, and rode with Daniel to the park.
My mom and dad showed up randomly saying they were in town, which I thought was odd. After all the presents were opened we walked around watching the little kids play. He led me to the bench and we sat there swinging. In the background a softball tournament was going on. He said that this was where it all started, the first chapter of our life together. I was delirious from no sleep so I was just nodding along. He said how appropriate it would be to start the next chapter in the same place.
I was confused and he asked if I wanted to stand up as he reached down into his boot. I squeaked out a “yes” and stood up as he knelt down on one knee and asked “Juliet Renee Handley, will you marry me?” I was crying so hard, but I said yes! He said “really?” and I said yes for a thousand years. He slipped the ring on my finger and we could not be happier to get married this October.”
The First Date Proposal: Proposing on the First Date?!
Everyone remembers their first date. Emily had her first date recreated when Rudy surprised her! Read their story down below:
“My now almost husband Rudy took me to the races at Keeneland on a Saturday morning. We watched the horses run all morning through about lunch time. He made a $30 bet on a long shot in the last race before we left. The horse ended up winning and Rudy won $900! Great start to the day! We left Keeneland so I could change into my dress for our early dinner date. His plan was to recreate our first date for the proposal. He took me to my favorite restaurant, Bella Notte. We sat at the same table as we did on our first date and everything.
After that, he drove us to Paris, KY. We walked around downtown Paris and just talked and admired the old buildings. We reached the beautiful courthouse and took it all in just like we did on our first date. Rudy gave me a big hug and said “I want you to know that I love you more than anything. You are the best thing that has ever happened to me. You’re my world, you know that?” I nodded and I told him that I loved him too. He said “I want to keep you forever, I want you to be my wife,” then got on one knee and pulled out a ring.
I’ve never been as happy in my life as I was at that moment. I obviously said yes and he put the ring on, picked me up, spun me around, and pointed out the hidden photographer he had hired. After we took some pictures, we went back to Bella Notte for desserts (still at the same table) and I don’t think I ever stopped smiling! Now I get to marry my best friend in just SIX WEEKS!!!”
The “Up” Proposal: An Adventure to Last a Lifetime
Raegen’s finance Michael gave her a night she would never forget as he incorporated one of her favorite movies into the proposal! Read their story down below:
I had my fiance, Michael, watch the Disney UP a few months prior to the proposal, and mentioned to him how much I always loved the adventure book they kept in the movie. It was so sweet how they perceived their life as an adventure, and with Michael I had always felt the same way. Michael coordinated the whole proposal with our friends and we met at the spaghetti factory in Chandler, AZ. He had me come sit next to him in the grassy area by the restaurant and told me he got me a present. As soon as he showed me the book, I started crying. He had taken all of our photos and made our own adventure book!
The end of the book had a handwritten letter. I stood up to give him a hug thinking the book was the end of the surprise. When he got down on one knee and proposed I was beyond shocked. That’s when I finally saw his best friend taking pictures and he had set the whole thing up! Our engagement was August 6th 2016 and the wedding is set for November 11th 2017. I cannot wait to marry my best friend.
